What is it?
Microdermabrasion treatments are done according to skin type and whether or not the person has a skin problem. Acne, actinic keratosis, hyper keratosis, and sun damage are a few reasons microdermabrasion would be used. Micros are are a great treatment option for these problem areas because the practitioner has greater control over the amount of exfoliation. For example, when dealing with actinic keratosis the area effected would need more exfoliating than other areas surrounding it. In this case, the practitioner can focus on that area, and still give a lighter peel to the rest of the surrounding area. Also, microdermabrasion treatments have a greater effect on stimulating the skin to produce more collagen and elastin, then do acid peels. The stimulation of collagen and elastin aid in the overall fight against aging.
How Frequently Should I Use Microdermabrasion?
The frequency of microdermabrasion treatments are usually every 4-6 weeks for 3-10 months. Of course this is completely dependent on what the skin problem is and how aggressive one needs to get to address the problem and minimize or cure their particular condition.
